Competition Information

Format

Horse is judged for its obedience, balance and precision on the flat (Dressage); and optimal time, knock downs and refusals over painted jumps in the ring (Stadium Jumping).   

General Rules

- All riders are required to wear hard hat with harness and boots or heeled shoes when mounted.  No exceptions!
- Protests must be filed in writing, within 30 minutes of posting of scores to be considered.
- Riders may cross-enter events; however, compatible ride times cannot be guaranteed.

Elimination

ELIMINATION in either phase of Combined Training constitutes elimination from the remaining Combined Training competition.

NOTE:  The new Dressage Tests will be used for Training Level and above. The new USDF test will be used for Intro Tests.

DRESSAGE INFORMATION:  Each test to be ridden only once by each horse and rider combination. Horses may be entered in two consecutive levels only. Rides will be limited to 2 tests. The Musical Freestyle test will not count as one of the tests allowed. If riders enter the Combined Training, they will ride an additional test that will count only towards the Combined Training score.

DRESSAGE AWARDS:  Medals will be given for the top three rides for each test and in each age group. Second Level and Musical Freestyle are open classes and each level will receive medals.

COMBINED TRAINING RULES:
  A horse may enter one level only in CT. Both phases must be ridden by the same horse and rider combination. The stadium jumping phase will not be timed. Elimination in either phase of CT constitutes elimination from the remaining CT competition.  The USEF rules of Horse Trials will apply wherever applicable; however, this is not a recognized event.  CT tests may be found by clicking here.

COMBINED TRAINING AWARDS:  Scores from each event will be combined to form the total score according to the USEF rule book. Each age group and level will receive medals.

STADIUM JUMPING RULES:  Classes EQ 300 - EQ 309 will be scored under the USEF rule XXVI Chapter IV article 2724 Table II 2.2(a). Horse and rider combinations may compete at two consecutive fence heights only. The rider is limited to 2 horses per class in the interest of time. No horse may compete at more than 3 fence heights (need not be consecutive). Horse and rider combinations that compete in the Dressage or Combined Training in Walk-Trot classes are not eligible to cross-enter in any other stadium jumping classes other than cross rails.

STADIUM JUMPING AWARDS:  Horse is judged on optimal time, knock downs and refusals over painted jumps in the ring.  Medals will be given to the first, second and third place riders in each age group and level.
