Competition
Format

Round-robin tournament with
all teams playing three (3) games whenever possible.
All divisions, except
Mini-mites who will play
30 minutes, will be
three (3) 12 minute stop
time periods.
Mini-mite
Competition Format
In keeping with the philosophy of the Iowa
Games, the mini-mite division will focus on participation with a Jamboree
format. No scores or standings will be kept, and all participants will receive
a medal. This division will play for 30 minutes with line changes signaled
every two minutes. This division will not be required to provide
USA certified referees, however, these games will be officiated by the coaches
within this division.
Scoring
Medal winners in each division will be
based on win-loss-tie record (i.e. 2 points per win, 0 points per loss, 1 point
for a tie). If a tie exists after all games, then it will be broken by an
additional set of criteria that will be given with the rule adaptations.
Scorer Requirements
The Iowa Games is
successful only through the efforts of its volunteers. Each team is
required to provide qualified individuals to assist with announcing and
scorekeeping while their team is playing.
Rules
Current USA Hockey rules will apply. This is a
sanctioned tournament. All referees the team provides must be USA Hockey
Certified. Coaches must also be certified by USA Hockey.
Each coach will have to present his/her certified card prior to each
game.

Equipment
Helmets are required for all athletes.
USA Hockey approved facemasks are required in all youth
divisions. Mouthguards are required for all Pee Wee and Bantam athletes.
Player I.D.
Should there be any questions,
coaches should have copies of players' birth certificates available at each
game.
Roster
Maximum number of players on a team is
20. Players may appear on only one roster, and can play on only one team.

Teams that originally register online may make roster
changes online until January 21. New players and/or replacement players
must complete an
Individual
Entry Form and the waiver must be signed. For replacement
players, please indicate which player they are replacing.
Roster limits will be enforced.

Entry Deadline
Note that ice hockey will be filled in order of postmark
date. Slots cannot be held. The Iowa Games office will maintain the list of
teams at www.iowagames.org. Teams in excess of the maximum will be placed on a
waiting list.
