Competition Information

Competition Format

There will be two snowboarding competitions at Sundown Mountain. These events will be a Half Pipe Freestyle and Big Air Jump Freestyle competition to be held in the Terrain Park.

Half Pipe Freestyle Format

The Half Pipe Freestyle event will be judged on the tricks performed, motion and rotation, "AIR" amplitude, transition, and form during competition. Each athlete will receive two (2) rides through the Half Pipe.

ATHLETES ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR and NO INVERTED TRICKS shall be allowed during the Half Pipe Freestyle event.

The winner within each age class will be determined by the best score of the two rides. 

Big Air Jump Freestyle Format

The Big Air Jump Freestyle event will be judged on the tricks performed, motion and rotation, "AIR" amplitude, transition, and form during the competition. Each athlete will receive two (2) jumps.

ATHLETES ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR and NO INVERTED TRICKS shall be allowed during the Big Air Jump Freestyle event.

The winner within each age class will be determined by the best score of the two jumps.

January 1, 2010. 

Running Order

The running order in all classes will be as follows:  46 & over, 36 - 45, 7 & under, 8 - 11, 12 - 14, 15 - 17, 18 - 25, 26 - 35.  The running order within each age division will be alphabetical for all pre-registered racers.  Same day registrants will be seeded at the end of their respective age classes.  Same day registrants must check-in at the registration area to receive an information packet and a race number (South Lodge Upper Level).

Rules

International Snowboard Association and United States Ski Association rules will apply. 

ATHLETES ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR and NO INVERTED TRICKS shall be allowed during competition.  Any athlete who attempts to perform inverted tricks shall be disqualified. 

Lift Tickets

Each athlete must purchase a lift ticket.  Lift tickets can be purchased the day of competition at a rate of 12 yrs. & over - $39 (plus tax) per day and 5 - 11 yrs. $29 (plus tax) per day.

Awards

Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event and age class. Awards ceremonies will follow the days last event in the upper level of South Lodge as quickly as the judges tabulate the scoring.

Registration

On-site entries will be allowed each day of competition at the South Lodge, Upper Level, Sundown Mountain from 8:00 - 10:00 AM. Each athlete must check-in at the registration area to receive information packet and a race number. On-site entry fee will be $30.
