Artistic Requirements

Skaters will be judged on interpretation of theme and tempo of their chosen music.  Artistic expression and musical interpretation are the major elements judged.  Appropriate costumes are encouraged but are not required.  Props may be used if they can be placed and removed by the skater in 30 seconds and do not present danger to the skater.

Competition Format

Events will be grouped by test level as indicated.  Event eligibility is based on test status as of January 23, 2008 (entry deadline).  Males and females will compete separately.  However, if entries warrant and to give all athletes an opportunity to compete, male and female skaters may compete together in the same event.  Levels with more than eight (8) entries may be divided by age.  Competition will start with beginners and progress through each level with adults being the last group.  Athletes may enter one level higher than the level for which they are otherwise qualified.

Adult Skaters

Please indicate your freestyle level on the entry form.

Music

Skaters are to provide their own music on cassette or CD. Cassette tapes, CD's and cases must be marked with the skater’s name and event. Please be sure the tape is rewound and ready to play. Athletes should have a second tape which can be used as a backup. All tapes should be turned in at the time of athlete check-in and tapes can be picked up following the competition.

Rules/Sanctioning

USFSA rules will apply. The 6.0 USFS judging system will be used for this competition.  The referee reserves the right to combine groups of similar ability, if entries warrant.  Athletes are not required to be members of the USFSA to participate in State Games, but must meet USFSA eligibility requirements.

Awards

Medals will be presented to the top three athletes in each division and will be presented at the conclusion of each level.

Grouping & Start-times
